Why shore excursions ?

Cruise companies offer shore excursions or tours for a variety of reasons. Obviously, these activities generate revenue and make a vital contribution to a cruise company's bottom line, but the provision of tours also adds to the complete package that is a cruise vacation. For many passengers, the tour continues to develop the pattern of providing a secure and a hassle-free quality vacation. The tour is a relatively safe, easily organized and managed foray into a different culture or alternatively, an opportunity to sample an activity.

Khimji's House of Travel has been handling shore excursions of European Navy ships as well as groups from Costa, Aida and Princess cruises. Every new tour is checked out on a dry run by our experienced operations team. Our checklist includes walking distances, road conditions, wheelchair accessibility, weather conditions, possible travel routes, and likely timings.

Khimji's House of Travel has excellent relations with port officials, enabling us to assist with our clients' requirements if needed. We can also assist in obtaining visas for last-minute disembarkations. All buses, guides & our operations team are ready on standby in the port at least an hour prior to the tour departure time. Wherever possible, arrivals are met with a red carpet on the pier. Also special arrangements such as brass band, folkloric performance, welcome receptions, etc are arranged upon request.

Passenger itineraries contain detailed site descriptions, map of Oman, and emergency contact details of our operations team. Separate minute-by-minute itineraries for guides and operations staff help keep track of time spent at each venue, and ensure staggered group movements are smoothly coordinated.

Tickets for sightseeing are always pre-purchased in bulk wherever possible, eliminating waiting time for passengers. Advance team members prepare for lunches and check-ins at hotels. All operations team members are equipped with walkie-talkies and mobile phones.

All bus signs/group signs held by guides and table signs at meal venues are clearly numbered. Our operations team act as "human arrows" to direct clients, freeing guides to focus on guiding. If using more than one venue for lunch at a hotel, each room is always clearly signposted with the group numbers assigned there.

Shopping stops always kept brief, so as not to detract from the main sightseeing purpose of a tour. No local vendors are allowed to board buses at any point.
