Nature & Culture of Oman - 6 Nights & 7 Days
DAY 1 - MUSCAT ARRIVAL
You will be met on arrival by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2 - HALF DAY MUSCAT CITY TOUR
Morning, you will be met at the hotel for a half day City Tour. The tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. Visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum, exhibiting the wealth of Oman’s history and thus imparting knowledge about the country’s rich culture and traditions to the visitor. Later you drive along the picturesque Corniche to the once walled district Muscat. You will have photo stops at the residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. You will be strolling through Muttrah Souq, where you will be bargaining for handicrafts and silver items. Back to hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.
To enter Grand mosque dress code for Ladies - should be fully covered with scarf and wear full sleeves shirt, and for Men shorts are not allowed. Grand Mosque is open: Saturday - Thursday from 0800 - 1100
DAY 3 - NIZWA - BAHLA - JABRIN
Today you will drive to the historic town of Nizwa, Oman’s cultural capital. You will visit the powerful Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman and the traditional Souq. You will then proceed to Jabrin castle which was built in the 17th century, that is one of the finest of its kind. Its magnificent plasterwork, the carved doors and the painted wooden beams of the ceiling, makes this castle amazingly different. Thereafter you will continue to Bahla, one of the oldest towns of Oman, which in the 12th century was the capital for the tribe living in the region. As the monumental fort is closed for renovation, only a photo stop is planned. Drive back to Nizwa and checkin to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Nizwa & Jabrin forts are open Saturday - Thursday from 0900-1600 & Friday from 0800-1100
DAY 04 : WAHIBA SANDS
Morning drive to Wahiba sands, via traditional Old Omani village Ibra, Al Mintrib. You will stop at each place for photo sessions. Your first destination for the day is Wadi Bani Khalid - an oasis spot in the middle of the barren and dry mountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman and its pools with clear deep blue water give you an opportunity to take a refreshing dip. Then proceed to Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. After some exciting sand dune driving which offers excellent thrills and chills for all, you will arrive at the home of a Bedouin Family in the desert, you may even feel like going for a short camel ride. Dinner and over night at camp.
DAY 05 : SUR - RAS AL JINZ
Today you will drive to Sur, which in the past was renowned for its dhow shipyard. Unfortunately, the operation at the yard has completely been shut down. Now check-in at the hotel. After an early dinner you will visit the turtle sanctuary at Ras Al Jinz, where at night the Green Turtles, after a journey of thousands of kilometers will come ashore to lay their eggs. You will then return to hotel for the overnight. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 06 : MUSCAT
Drive along the coast to Muscat. You will drive further to Wadi Shab, en route you will see lush villages surrounded with dates, lemon and mango plantations. You will finally reach Wadi Shab - an oasis spot in the middle of the barren and dry mountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis and its pools with clear deep blue water give you an opportunity to take a refreshing dip. On the coastal road you will stop at the limestone Sinkhole in Bimah and then continue further to Fins Beach, reach Muscat and checkin to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 07 : MUSCAT DEPARTURE
Checkout from the hotel and transfer to the Muscat International Airport for onward flight home.
